Megan D’Alessio Consulting

DEI as seasoning, not a side dish

Hi! I’m Megan D’Alessio and I love a good food metaphor.

That’s why I say that in the “meal” of any company, the most effective diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) strategies are “seasoning, not a side dish”. When it comes to shifting the way people work, isolated and out-of-the-box solutions rarely work because they are implemented onto rather than integrated into existing workplace practices. To achieve meaningful and lasting change, I work with each client to understand their unique business and culture so I can recommend solutions that stick.

My grounding in both theory and application drives sustainable outcomes for organizations regardless of size or sector. Having worked as Global Head of DEI at Box and Cruise as well as Senior Manager of DEI at Gap Inc. and Pinterest, I have years of industry-tested experience building diverse teams, equitable workplace practices, and inclusive cultures. I have leveraged my expertise in structural inequality to design and deliver a course at Stanford’s Design School called Designing Fat Liberation that was foundational to the launch of Pinterst’s first-of-its kind body type technology.

Previously, I earned my B.A. in Social Welfare and City Planning from the University of California, Berkeley and received my M.Ed. in Curriculum Design and Instruction from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas while working as a Teach For America corps member. In my free time I love hosting dinner parties, making pottery, listening to podcasts, and spending time with my pup, Peperoncini.
